Have a Christmas that makes you feel a whole lot better | Lizi’s
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The trees are up, the lights are on, and Christmas Day is just around the corner. And this year, more than ever, it’s a great time to relax, unwind and help yourself and your family have a great festive period.
So how about adopting some easy habits this Christmas which are kind to the planet and can make you feel a whole lot better? Here are some of the things we’ll be doing this Christmas…
1) Use your Christmas Cards to make next year’s gift tags
Rather than buy tags for presents each year, why not use the beautiful Christmas cards you receive from friends and family to cut out pictures of trees, presents and stars and use these as your tags for the following Christmas. It saves money and is a great way you can play a small part in recycling at home, making the use of those great designs.
2) Put those leftovers to good use
There are so many recipes that can put all those leftovers to good use, from turkey and nut roast right through to those good old Brussel sprouts. It’s a great way to continue to get some much-needed vitamins and minerals throughout the festive period and, even better, they taste delicious.
If you find yourself with leftover sweet potato or dried fruit, why not try our tasty granola stuffing balls.
3) Have some ‘downtime’ from your mobile phone
Having multiple days where you’ve got a break from work – and a great excuse to kick back and relax – can lead to many of us being glued to our phones from dawn ‘til dusk, with little downtime. By making a conscious effort to leave your phone and be present in the moment, with family and friends, could make you feel a whole lot better. Board games, jigsaws, homemade brunch, Christmas films, and getting out for some exercise are great alternatives to keep your mind, or your hands, occupied!
4) Be eco-conscious when it comes to crackers, wrapping and decorations
Along with the merry times we have at Christmas, comes a huge amount of waste. The good news is there are now many options for choosing more eco-friendly Christmas decorations and crackers. It’s worth shopping around, particularly if you’re passionate about doing your bit to reduce the impact on the environment, and a little more spend can result in a lot more positive impact on our planet. Take care of your decorations and store them safely, and they will last you for years.
5) Choose a considered gift that will last
Rather than throwaway or single-use presents, consider a gift that will last. House plants, upcycled furniture, and vintage clothes can provide someone with a unique gift that brightens up their home or wardrobe and cannot be found anywhere else. Money well spent? We think so!
